2015 has been a reasonably good year for my landscape photography. I have broadened my horizons with several trips to Cyprus, reformed old landscape photography friendships and enjoyed the beautiful scenery around me as much as ever.
It is difficult to choose a favourite landscape photograph from the year, but the image of Whiterocks Beach in County Antrim shown above is probably the photograph I stop and stare at most often. A beautiful beach at the best of times, this magical May sunset really had it all; lazy layers of cloud framing the shot, a beautiful sinking sun, stunning colour, lovely textures and lines in the water, and a couple enjoying the view from an entirely different perspective, unwittingly adding a brilliant sense of scale to my shot.
I hope that during 2016 I can be a bit more active with my camera. I would love to take landscape photographs every week, but the weather and the pace of life in general sometimes conspire against me and I fell well short of that goal in 2015. I know that I won't capture great images every week, but as all landscape photographers know, one image a year that you can't stop staring at is more than enough.
Happy New Year everyone. :)
